What does “investor visa” mean here?

This guide covers the official Self-sponsorship Residence Permit and Re-entry Visa (Investor) service. It is a particular residence route assessed by NPRA. A commercial registration is business documentation, not by itself a residence approval. Other employment or residence routes have different conditions.

The investment and income evidence

The official checklist requires the company memorandum and commercial registration to establish an ownership share of at least BHD 100,000. It also requests stable income of at least BHD 500 and valid medical insurance issued in Bahrain. These are requirements for this residence service; they are not a statement that every Bahrain company must have BHD 100,000 of capital.

  • Check the value and documentation of your own ownership share.
  • Keep company-registration advice separate from the residence eligibility assessment.
  • Do not assume a percentage holding, by itself, meets the value requirement.

Documents to prepare

The service lists identity, good-conduct, accommodation, company and financial evidence. It asks for personal and company bank statements covering the previous three months. NPRA may request additional documents, so this checklist is preparation guidance rather than a guarantee that a submission is complete.

  • Passport and ID copies, a certificate of good conduct and the previous residence permit where applicable.
  • Residential lease and electricity bill.
  • Company memorandum and commercial registration showing the qualifying holding.
  • Bahrain medical-insurance certificate and evidence of stable income.
  • Personal and company bank statements for the preceding three months.

Application, duration and timing

The official service describes two-, five- and ten-year residence options. Check the current service conditions, who may submit the application and the charges for the requested transaction. A quoted processing standard is not a promise of approval by a travel or contract deadline. Each application is assessed separately.

  • Confirm the correct transaction if you already hold another permit.
  • Separate application, issuance and any transfer charges in your quotation.
  • Keep the application reference, uploaded evidence and authority receipts.

Family, work and Golden Residency are separate checks

Do not assume this investor residence application automatically authorises employment or grants residence to every relative. Identify the relevant work and dependant procedures for each person. Golden Residency uses separate eligibility categories, including its own property-value test; an investor self-sponsorship application should not be sold as automatic Golden Residency.
